The Platzl and the Nicolaidis YoungWings Foundation

While many of us are able to spend this contemplative time of the year in the secure and familiar circle of our families, there are unfortunately also people who do not enjoy this privilege. For those who have lost close relatives, the Christmas season can be especially difficult. This is why we are once again supporting the Nicolaidis YoungWings Foundation this year.

What is the Nicolaidis YoungWings Foundation?

As mentioned above, the foundation supports children and young adults who have lost important people in their lives. It helps them work through their grief and also provides guidance on legal and financial matters. To ensure truly individual and holistic support, the foundation relies on strong external partners – and we are proud to have been part of this network for many years.

The scent of Christmas baking is in the air!

One of our most heartfelt traditions during the festive season is baking together. Over the years, we have welcomed many children and families to our Pfistermühle restaurant – transforming it into a lively Christmas bakery for the day. With handmade aprons and plenty of enthusiasm, the young guests and our team worked through impressive amounts of dough, filling tray after tray with freshly baked cookies. A more recent tradition is our gingerbread house workshop in “Kreszenz⁴ – der Saal”, created especially for orphans and half-orphans. Every year, it becomes a touching and joyful highlight for everyone involved.

An Advent concert for a good cause

The Inselkammer family’s annual Advent concert is also traditionally dedicated to the Nicolaidis YoungWings Foundation. Together with the Wind Orchestra of the Academic Choral Society Munich, guests enjoy a warm and reflective evening – followed by a fundraising collection in support of the foundation. We then carry the festive spirit into the decorated courtyard of our hotel, where a small Christmas market creates a cosy and welcoming atmosphere.

Support all year round

Our commitment to the foundation goes far beyond the Christmas season. The Platzl Hotel and the Pfistermühle now regularly host cooking classes for members of the Nicolaidis YoungWings Foundation. We also support events with caterings or by providing rooms and space – creating opportunities for connection, exchange and community.
