People from all over the world gather here in the open air to enjoy Bavarian specialities, white wine spritzers or good Bavarian beer. Some of the most famous beer gardens in the city are the Chinese Tower Beer Garden in the English Garden, the Hofbräuhaus Beer Garden and the Hirschau Beer Garden. As well as the big and famous, there are many smaller beer gardens, such as our Wirtsgarten at the Ayinger in der Au, where you can enjoy balmy evenings under shady chestnut trees.

GETTING TO MUNICH
Munich is easy to reach by car and, thanks to good transport links, by bus and train. We recommend travelling by train or FlixBus and using public transport within the city. Munich's traffic can be a little overwhelming and you may need to be lucky to find a parking space - public transport is much more flexible. If you are coming from further afield, you can fly into Munich and then take the S-Bahn 1 or 8 into the city.
THE BEST TIME TO VISIT
Munich is worth a visit in any season. In spring and summer, the beautiful city attracts the most visitors, and you can spend hours in beer gardens or on the banks of the Isar River, enjoying the fresh air. In autumn, the surrounding countryside is a sea of colour, perfect for hiking and other outdoor activities. Winter in and around Munich is also truly magnificent. Stroll through the Christmas markets or the snow-covered countryside.
