EVENTS OF AUTUMN 2014 IN THE STATE CAPITAL
The summer is slowly coming to an end, the leaves are changing colour. In Munich, autumn has arrived sooner than we had thought. However, at this time of year, there is a lot to discover in the diverse state capital of Bavaria.
Kirchweihdult – the Dult is where it’s at!
The name “Dult” originates from a church festival. However, its meaning has changed over time; the word now refers to a lively fair, which has long been a tradition in Munich.
The third and final Auer Dult of the year is just around the corner (18th–26th October). Nine days of hustle and bustle (18th–26th October) await at Mariahilfplatz. From antiques, household goods, and amusement rides (like the nostalgic Russian Ferris wheel) to various food stalls, there is something for everyone! Watch artisans such as wood engravers, knife sharpeners and wool spinners in action. Amuse yourself and experience a traditional ambience.
The Long Night of the Museums in Munich
Munich is a museum city that offers an outstanding variety of them. No other event offers more diversity than the “Long Night of the Museums”. For the 16th time, 90 Munich museums, galleries, and collections are waiting to be discovered after sunset. On 18th October, a broad programme of knowledge, research, history, and entertainment will await you. The doors will be open from 7:00 pm to 2:00 am. Numerous special promotions such as guided tours, interactive installations, live music, and performances will ensure an auspicious night. You can either plan a small cultural tour through Munich or spontaneously drift though the city – it’s completely up to you. The shuttle buses of the MVG will definitely provide a convenient means of transport!
19th Market of the Senses
Experience three days of art, craft, and lifestyle in the historic vaulted halls on the Praterinsel! From 31st October to 2nd November, you are cordially invited to enjoy the autumn with all your senses. Get creative in numerous workshops such as Origami – the Japanese art of paper folding – or visit demonstrations on glass blowing. Various culinary delicacies from all over the world will also be provided. Marvel, participate, and indulge yourself!
